"The Ride of a Lifetime" |
The York Region Forest |
The York Region Forest consists of over 2000 acres of beautiful riding
country. The forest was planted in the early 1900s in an effort to prevent the sandy
soil causing dust storms in windy weather. The end result is almost 100%
sandy trails, some wide, some narrow, which make for safe comfortable riding
in any weather. The forest consists mainly of a wide variety of pine trees
along with many maple trees and a few oak. Even after heavy rainstorms the
trails remain safe and dry up in an incredibly short period of time. The
map to the right shows the Main (recently renamed the Eldred King) West
& Hall Tracts which are about 1000 acres in size. For a more detailed

| The Al Humphrey Memorial Ride, in honor of Allan Stewart
Humphrey (October 10, 1932 - February 2, 2006,) or as he was known to most "Al" of Al's Tack Shop, provides an opportunity for the horse community at large to make a positive contribution to the lives of others by raising funds for deserving non-profit organizations. |
Don't forget to get your ride t-shirts to wear on the 2010 ride. They
are available in white or natural 100% pre-shrunk cotton in sizes Youth Small to Large, and Adult X-Small to
3X-large. It would be great if everyone has one to wear on the next Al's Ride.
